High School Intensive

The 2026 Summer Music Festival & School will open with an all-new, two-week High School Intensive for 105 exceptional aspiring orchestral and chamber musicians, conductors, and pianists.
Fellowship Institute

The 2026 Summer Music Festival & School will continue with it’s renowned six-week Fellowship Institute for 150 pre-professional musicians on the cusp of launching their careers.

About the Academy
Since 1947, the Music Academy of the West has provided classically trained musicians and diverse audiences with transformative educational and performance experiences, and is renowned for its annual Summer Music Festival & School. Year-round programs include Sing!, a youth choir that performs with local, national, and international partners; and the Mariposa Concert Series, featuring Academy-affiliated artists.Â
Explore our Venues
Known as Miraflores, the Academy’s nine-acre campus is a gem of spectacular grounds and gardens. During the Summer Festival, take in a performance or masterclass in Hahn Hall or the Marilyn Horne Main House, or experience the Festival downtown at the Granada Theatre or Lobero Theatre.
Outside of the Festival weeks, the campus offers a historic and lush setting for seminars and meetings, weddings & celebrations, and music performances. With sunlit gardens, iconic architecture, and state-of-the-art performance spaces, our venue provides a one-of-a-kind backdrop for meaningful moments of every kind.
